Its been a long three months since we had time to write on what we have been doing through impacting lives and also changing lives. So let us tell you the stories as they unfolded during the journey of these three months.
Once upon a in August ......... During this month we had Holiday camps and Ni Sisi Camp
In the holiday camps were were privileged to have 16 young boys and girls from Mamlaka hill chapel who had a great time at our Camp i.e "Camp Malta". the teens were taught on servant leadership and as usual had optimum fun and also many lessons they would take home. Club J you rock!!!!
Later on in the month we also partnered with Inuka Kenya in their Ni SiSi campaign which was also done at our camp site. The boot camp brought many youth from different slum areas in Nairobi where the word "ni sisi" means "its us" this was to bring cohesion following the post election violence which occurred in the 2007 general elections youth from different backgrounds and ethnicity. The campers were 51 in number and we were happy of the enormous and great feed back we got from them and hence they were "Nisisified" and looking ahead to work together in solving problems as a community or country so as to make a better Kenya.
In conclusion of the month we had our YE Girls from Cohort 1 both in Kawangware and Mathare graduating which was a well deserved time of teaching these young girls onto become enterprising and also impacting life skills onto them. Congratulations to the 2 winners of the business plans from the two respective areas. happily ever after.....
Once upon a time in September....This was the happy birthday month for us at Tanari Trust we turned 10 years old :) Hooray on 3rd September, we celebrated with our partners and friends through activities and laughter, i know Jocelyn wherever you are you are envying this. Rev Hon. Mutava Musyimi was our chief guest and he spoke words of encouragement and also gratitude to our work as we continue to impact young people in the country.
Once upon a time in October.... we are still in it but the highlight was the Kili Climb which we did with the Nation Media Group for raising funds for food dubbed "Chukua Hatua Maliza Njaa" (Take Action To Eliminate Hunger) this was a 7day mountain climb i.e 14 - 22/10/11 at Mt. Kilimanjaro which we used the Machame Route famously known as "Whisky Route". We were a total of 41 participants plus a group of 106 staff which entailed porters, cooks and guides. Hongera to all the climbers.
To our Interns who came and left during this period we miss you a lot, Jocelyn Nicole thank you for inspiring and starting us out on this blog and still i know you can sing (i believe you can guess who it is), Steve Kithusi minister in the making thank you for your devotion and a helping hand whenever it was needed and Lastly Esther Waithira for your candid eye to detail and practically analyzing things. May The Lord richly bless you all in your endeavors .
